Personal and Public

What we receive personally must be revealed publicly.  This principle is taught in Mark chapter five.  There, is the record of a woman who was healed after touching only the hem of Christ’s garment (5:27-29).  Mark 5:30 reads, “And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd, and said, "Who touched My clothes?”  The healing that this woman received from Jesus personally had to be revealed publicly.

In other words, what Christ does in us and for us is not something to be kept to ourselves.  It is something that others need to hear and must hear if they are to enjoy the life, Christ offers.  We are to let them know about it, and in so doing all the glory will be given to Jesus Christ.

Dr. Luke’s account of the incident tells us that this woman, “declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately” (Luke 8:47).  The people then went away, not thinking what an amazing experience this woman had, or what a wonderful person she was, but what an awesome person Jesus Christ was.

This should be the goal of our all witnessing – whether it is visible or verbal, by life or by lip.  What we have received personally, we must reveal publicly!

God bless you and have a great weekend.
