            Jesus said that Christians have an awesome responsibility to the people around them.  He said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). 

            Why do we have such difficulty sharing with others the most wonderful thing that has or could ever happen to us?  Believe me, it is not easy for me either, but it is something we have all been commanded to do.

            Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, defined witnessing as follows.  “Witnessing is taking the initiative to share Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.”  It was Dr. A. T. Pierson who said, “Evangelism is the whole work of the whole church for the whole age.”  Jesus made it clear that we are to take the story of the Gospel to every race, every place, and every case! 

            Let us never forget why God called us to start SouthPoint Church.  We believe church planting is the most effective and efficient means of reaching unbelievers.  If this were not true, there would certainly be no need of another local church south of Columbus.  However, it is true and we have the exciting opportunity of sharing in the joy of reaching unbelievers with the truth that meets life.

            May I encourage you today to ask God for a renewed awareness of those with whom we come in contact, those that do not know Christ as Lord and Savior?  Then, ask the Holy Spirit for that special and supernatural boldness to speak up and initiate a conversation with them that can be turned to the story of the Gospel.  You will be amazed as God answers that prayer and begins to open doors for witnessing.

            I am anxious to see all that God is going to do through the obedience of the wonderful people at SouthPoint Church!  My prayers are with you.
