In Acts 1:8, we read Christ’s words to His disciples then and now.  “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."  A witness is someone who says what he knows and what he has experienced.  Christianity is meant to be talked about, not just from those in pulpits, but also by everyone who names Christ as Lord and Savior.  That is how it spread at the beginning.  We read in the New Testament that when persecution broke out the Christians were scattered and they went everywhere “preaching the word” (Acts 8:4).

I do not mean by this that we impose on people whom we do not know and ask them intimate questions about their souls.  That would be rude but I do mean that when our faith is challenged, as it often is, or when the name of Christ comes up in conversation, then we must speak up.  Other people, who think differently, are far from backward in expressing their opinion.  Why are we so timid?

In the text above, Christ promised the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to be the witnesses He intended us to be.  Let us step out today, in dependence upon Him, and talk with someone about Jesus.  Right now, ask God to bring someone into your life today with whom you can share the good news of the Gospel.

I am praying with you and for you today.  Please pray for me.
